Veteran Silicon Valley entrepreneurs seeking rock star lead developer / architect to own the development of new consumer Internet site. If it’s within the Earthly realm of possibility, you should be able to build it. Fast.

Extensive experience architecting, building and scaling high performance / high availability applications is a must, preferably in Ruby on Rails or another object-oriented environment. You will be the first and only full-time developer working directly with the founders; very involved in all aspects of the product and making a huge impact on the business. We’re looking for a thinker AND a doer. This business is already generating revenue.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Site-wide architecture
- Own all phases of the software development from product definition / design through implementation, debugging, and testing
- Stay abreast of the rapidly changing technologies / approaches in consumer web, particularly in the areas of social media and SEO
- This is contract position to start, with goal of being a long-term, full-time telecommuting position

REQUIREMENTS
- Extensive experience building and scaling high volume, highly available sites
- Current and rock-solid knowledge Ruby on Rails preferred
- Expert level database skills (preferably MySQL) with special focus on scaling, performance tuning, schema design, etc.
- Hands-on experience building crawlers, as well as content aggregation from various APIs and web services
- Experience writing / optimizing complex algorithms
- Multivariate testing and statistical analysis
- Extensive hands on SEO expertise
- Extensive experience building SEM optimization tools in-house
- Must enjoy rapid iteration
- Independent and self-motivated
- US work authorization required
- Minimum 4+ yrs of software engineering experience; 1+ in an architecture and/or lead role; preferably consumer-facing, high-volume platforms
- Minimum BS degree in computer science or related field
