Summary:
The QA Material Improvement Tech while under supervision will carry out routine and timely incoming material inspection duties for the facility to ensure Food Safety and Quality of incoming packaging material. Included, but not limited to, product testing and analyses of packaging materials. Assist in product improvement and prepare samples for evaluation. Maintain lab data files, monthly reports, follow up on complaints as necessary. Will perform special projects as the need arise.
Responsibilities:
Perform sampling of various packaging material and compare to specifications for physical and chemical analyses at required frequencies.
Analyze for chemical and physical attributes set forth by research and development department.
Collect samples for outside evaluation.
Maintain Quality Control data files, computer data entry required
Prepare reports for Material Improvement Coordinator as needed.
Perform packaging material evaluation for physical attributes.
Prepare samples for shipment on request.
Assist in product improvement material analysis.
Maintain lab area and equipment in clean and good working condition at all times.
Communicate well with others. Report results outside defined specification ranges to Material Improvement Coordinator in a timely manner.
Prepare and submit monthly summary reports.
Perform other reasonable duties assigned by supervisor.
Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
High School Diploma or higher education. Equivalent experience in a related field can be substituted for education.
Basic math skills and ability to understand and perform analytical test
Lab background a plus
Detailed knowledge of GMPs, SSOPs, and plant auditing.
Ability to read and speak English.
Knowledge of computer applications such as Excel and Word desired.
Ability to lift 30lbs
Communicate and interact well with others in a fast-paced work environment.
Specific knowledge of Packaging Film a plus.
Self starter, good time management skills.
